Flexential Data Center & Expansion
Plano, Texas
The Flexential Dallas – Plano Data Center, located at 3500 East Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas, is a Generation 4 facility designed to support high-density computing needs with a total area exceeding 261,400 square feet. Following the acquisition of the facility, the building underwent a 12-month expansion project that consisted of both a shell and interior build-out of the 147,000 SF data center. PR&A performed the property condition assessment with MEP/FLS review of the existing facility and a design and document review, construction monitoring, and closeout services to support the expansion of the data center shell.
Power Infrastructure:
-
Capacity and Redundancy: The facility boasts an 18 megawatt (MW) critical load capacity, supported by a distributed redundant 4:3 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system.
-
Generators: The data center is equipped with nine diesel generators, each with a capacity of 3.2 MW, providing backup power in case of emergencies.
Cooling and Ventilation:
-
High-Density Cooling: Designed to accommodate power densities exceeding 1,500 watts per square foot, the facility employs proprietary, highly efficient air cooling systems.
-
Redundancy: The cooling infrastructure features N+1 redundancy, ensuring continuous operation even if one cooling unit fails.
Security Measures:
-
Physical Security: The data center is surrounded by a K1-rated crash-resistant perimeter fence and features ten-inch reinforced concrete walls. The roof is engineered to withstand F3 tornadoes, providing robust protection against natural disasters.
-
Access Controls: Security protocols include dual-factor authentication with biometric scanners and a six-zone security access system.
-
Surveillance: Continuous monitoring is conducted through 24/7 on-site security personnel, monitored security cameras, and intercom systems.
